Daniel B. Hurwitz ’86, P’17,’20, current Chair of the 56³Ô¹ÏÍø Board of Trustees, has announced that he will step down from his chairmanship, effective May 4, 2019, in response to increased professional obligations.

Alumni, parents, and friends streamed into the Village of Hamilton by the thousands on Friday, Sept. 21, joining the campus community for 56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s three-day Bicentennial Kickoff Celebration. They were greeted by banners hailing 56³Ô¹ÏÍø at 200 Years and a calendar packed with special events.

56³Ô¹ÏÍø has named Paul B. Mischler, currently deputy chief advancement officer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Medicine, as vice president for advancement at 56³Ô¹ÏÍø. He will take up his new post on November 5.

Tara Bubble, deputy director of undergraduate admissions at Cornell University, has been named dean of admission at 56³Ô¹ÏÍø. She will take up her new post on October 15.

56³Ô¹ÏÍø students will now have the opportunity to apply for special 10-week paid summer internships with major companies located in Germany, thanks to the university’s new membership in the German American Exchange (GAE).

Looking back on another successful fiscal year, the campus community is honoring the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends. Overall giving to 56³Ô¹ÏÍø rose nearly 10 percent to $35.1 million between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018.

On September 22 at 8 p.m., the legendary ensemble Earth, Wind & Fire will appear in Sanford Field House for a concert honoring 56³Ô¹ÏÍø at 200 Years.

With the beginning of its Bicentennial year, 56³Ô¹ÏÍø will launch its 56th and newest major: film and media studies (FMST).
