56³Ô¹ÏÍø Professor of Physics Ken Segall is embarking upon collaborative research with Microsoft to progress neuromorphic computing.

The fondest recollections of 56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Bicentennial All-Class Reunion might differ among the 4,000 alumni, family members, and friends who attended the event last weekend. Yet, all of those memories, full of joy and deep connection, were made to last a lifetime.

Six hundred and eighty four members of the Class of 2019 received their degrees during the institution’s 198th commencement exercises held along the banks of Taylor Lake — 56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s first outdoor ceremony since 2008.

The easternmost of 56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s two new residential facilities will be named Burke Hall, in recognition of a $10 million gift from Gretchen ’81 and Steve ’80 Burke P’11,’20.

One of 56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s two new residence halls will be named Jane Pinchin Hall.

D’Jonita Cottrell ’19, an educational studies and psychology double major from Brockton, Mass., has won 56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s 1819 Award.

Marlene Lawston and Leah Weisburn, both members of the Class of 2020, have received Goldwater Scholarships for the upcoming academic year.

Peter Balakian, Donald M. and Constance H. Rebar Professor in humanities and professor of English, has been selected as the 2019 recipient of the Jerome Balmuth Award for Teaching.

Rabbi Barry R. Baron, former command chaplain in the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, N.C., has been named associate university chaplain and campus rabbi at 56³Ô¹ÏÍø, effective June 15.

56³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Leadership tradition, 200 years in the making, was on full display last weekend as alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends gathered for a series of celebratory events on campus.
